Happy Birthday to Me and Happy Spring to you all!

What a weird birthday this is. I’ve been a mess most days lately, but for some reason, I woke up feeling fairly positive today. I received many messages from loved ones near and far, we ordered me a sewing machine to keep me busy in the coming weeks and I got to participate in a virtual pilates class given by Zoe’s sister-in-law. Over all, so far not a bad day.

And while there’s no big to-do, no fancy dinner in London as planned, no weekend trip away like other years, no friends surrounding me singing happy birthday, I still feel loved. Tim surprised me with the traditional British caterpillar birthday cake and a small package of presents arrived yesterday from my parents. I even received the best video from three of my nieces that made me ridiculously happy. It might all be very simple, but I’m still very grateful.

Of course I’m most grateful for Tim. My rock and my best friend, he has bent over backwards to make sure I’m having a happy birthday. But also, I’m grateful for technology and the fact that I heard from both my parents this morning. I’m grateful for everyone who wished me love. I’m grateful for you all who read and subscribe to my blog.I’m grateful for Netflix and books to keep me distracted. I’m grateful that I live in the countryside and have immediate access to acres of grass and yard without seeing anyone else (save a farmer or two in the distance). And of course, I’m grateful for the birds who sing and the trees that are beginning to bloom. Spring officially begins today. It can only get better from here!
